A difficult little announcement from Soft Coven 🐸
I am very sorry, but for the time being I have to pause all international sales.
At the moment, I can only accept orders with delivery within the Netherlands. This means that shipping to Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Denmark, and all other countries is temporarily unavailable.
Since 12 August 2026, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), together with national Extended Producer Responsibility rules, has introduced new obligations for businesses sending packaged products to customers in other EU countries.
Depending on the destination, a seller may have to register separately in that country, join a local recycling scheme, report the weight of every type of packaging, pay environmental fees and, in some countries, appoint a local authorised representative.
These rules also apply to very small handmade businesses. In Germany, for example, there is currently no exemption for occasional sales or microbusinesses, and a foreign seller must appoint a paid representative based in Germany.
Soft Coven is a one-person business, and I make only a few creatures each month. At this scale, the annual fees and administrative requirements can cost much more than the value of the orders themselves.
My Instagram previously said “shipping worldwide”, and I am truly sorry that this is no longer accurate. I will update the information.
This is hopefully a pause, not a permanent goodbye. I will continue following the development of the regulations and hope that a simpler system for small makers will be introduced. A new discussion over a new law shall take place at 26.10.2026. We are all waiting for the result of it. 🙏
For now, Matilda, Millie, Henrietta and the rest of the Soft Coven creatures can travel only within the Netherlands. 🇳🇱
